From JAS. ARCHIBALD, Esq., Headmaster.

St Bernard's Public School, Edinburgh, 21st February 1911.

Mr WILLIAM KAY began work here as a Pupil-Teacher on 1st September 1904 and left on 18th July 1907. During that time he had experience in teaching classes in the Junior, Senior and Supplementary Divisions, including the Qualify. ing Class. He gave evidence of being a capable and hard- working teacher and proved a first-rate disciplinarian.

He studied at Broughton Higher Grade School and at the end of his three years' course he took the first place in both Mathematics and English. He took a great interest

in the sports of the children and gave much valued assistance with his knowledge of the game of football.

I have much confidence in recommending him.

JAS. ARCHIBALD.
